Module Descriptions


Module 1: Introduction

In this module, you will be introduced to property practice and, in particular, the relevant legislation and resources. You will also explore the types of ethical issues that can arise in property transactions and how this may affect your practice.

Module 2: Sale of a property

In this module, you will examine the transfer of freehold property in Victoria, and in particular identifying the conveyancing practices involved in acting for both vendors and purchasers of dwelling houses, units and townhouses and commercial properties. You will also examine various revenue implications, including those arising from the conveyance of a property. As part of your assessment, you will complete various conveyancing tasks and prepare the relevant documentation on behalf of both a vendor and a purchaser.

Module 3: Creation of leases

In this module, you will examine the procedures involved in creating various types of leases, including commercial and retail leases. The main covenants found in standard leases, the rights and obligations of landlords and tenants and the revenue implications of leasing are all considered. As part of your assessment, you will also draft a number of clauses for inclusion in a lease.

Module 4: Land use and development

In this module, you will examine the basic processes involved in the planning and development of land under the Planning and Environment Act 1987 (Vic). As part of your assessment, you will provide advice to a client regarding the processes to be followed to obtain consent to a development application.
