Course description

This program allows students to complete the requirements for the individual Bachelor of Laws and Diploma of Psychology programs in a minimum of 4.5 years of study.

The Bachelor of Laws/Diploma of Psychology award is suitable for those wishing to pursue careers in law and/or psychology. This is a complementary combination in that whatever area the graduate chooses to follow, the other award will assist in his/her work. Graduates of this combination will find a range of career options available.

  • Organisational Psychologists require a working knowledge of areas of business, including the law.
  • Training in law will enhance critical reasoning skills.
  • Psychology opens further career opportunities within the legal profession.
  • There is a high demand for both psychologists and lawyers

Graduates may wish to pursue a career as a clinical, organisational or forensic psychologist, or in traditional legal practice in the areas of intellectual property, forensic and/or criminal law.

Course structure

The psychology component requires that students complete 60 credit points of study, including nine compulsory units and one elective unit in psychology.

The law component requires that students complete 156 credit points of study including 16 compulsory and a further 12 elective law units.
