Undergraduate Entry Requirements and Admissions

Current or recent Year 12 students

Selection is on the basis of law prerequisites, an ENTER score, 'middle-band' and any consideration of disadvantage.

Law Prerequisites

  • English (any) with a study score of at least 30, plus

Note: Applicants wishing to combine the Bachelor of Laws with a degree from another faculty should check the VTAC Guide to ensure they meet the prerequisites of both faculties.

ENTER Score

As a guide, you should aim for an ENTER of around 99.05 to be eligible for a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) in the Bachelor of Laws and 99 for associated double degrees. The clearly-in score for a full-fee place in the Bachelor of Laws, including the concurrent and double degrees, is no more than 5 points below the corresponding clearly-in CSP ENTER score.  Year 12 applicants from other Australian states and students who have completed the International Baccalaureate applicants will have their results converted to an ENTER score equivalent by the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) formulae.

The ENTER score for all double degrees with LAW (with the exception of Medicine/Surgery/Law) is based on the Law ENTER, not on the ENTER of the other degree (eg commerce or arts).

For admission to the MBBS/LLB program, students must first gain admission to the MBBS program. Students cannot apply to the MBBS/LLB course through VTAC. Visit the Monash Medicine Faculty website.

International Students in Australia studying Year 12 or IB.

Middle-band

Students can gain admission with a lower score after consideration of applications in the ‘middle-band’ as part of a two stage selection process.

In line with Monash policy, the Law School will aim to select about 20% of students from the ‘middle-band’. Students will be considered on the following criteria:

Middle Band re-ranking is based on performance in pre-requisites studies; any of classical societies and cultures, Geography, Legal Studies, History (any) or International Politics.
