Course description

This double-degree program allows students to complete the requirements for the individual Bachelor of Computer Science and Bachelor of Laws programs in a minimum of five years of study.

The Bachelor of Computer Science/Bachelor of Laws degree is designed for students who want to focus on the scientific and technical sides to computing in addition to gaining a thorough understanding of the legal principles and practice.

In addition to the compulsory and elective studies within the law degree, students will study computing in depth, focusing on the software, the hardware and the underlying theory of computing and its applications to scientific and technical problem solving, and to information processing in commerce and industry as part of the Bachelor of Computer Science Degree.

Students will be able to draw from the extensive experience of the Law School’s teachers in intellectual property, information security, and electronic law to complement their training in the computer science area.

Course Structure

The business systems component requires that students complete 108 credit points of study, including 12 compulsory units and six elective units. Students may graduate with the Bachelor of Computer Science degree after three years of study, provided they have completed a minimum of 144 credit points of study including the 108 credit points of computer science units.

The law component requires that students complete 156 credit points of study including 16 compulsory and a further 12 elective law units.
