Convenor LLM(LP) Professional ProfileOyiela Litaba has extensive experience of legal practice and University teaching. After graduating from The University of Cambridge in 1984 she qualified as a barrister, practiced as an Advocate (Government legal officer) and worked as a solicitor for London firms Slaughter and May and Brecher & Co. She is currently admitted as a Solicitor in England and Wales and as a Barrister and Solicitor in Fiji. In 1993 she moved to the Law Department at The University of Sheffield, England where she spent 4 years teaching and developing courses for the postgraduate Legal Practice Course. Her main subject areas are civil litigation and associated advocacy, professional responsibility and the design of course materials to develop legal skills. Before moving to Monash she was Coordinator of the PDLP at the Institute of Justice and Applied Legal Studies, The University of the South Pacific, Suva, Fiji Islands.Areas of ExpertiseLegal Education/Practical Legal Training; and Teaching Commitments
