HDR Research Support Fund

Attending conferences is an essential part of the research student’s experience, but it can get expensive. Our HDR Research Support Fund, along with the Monash Postgraduate Travel Grant Scheme (MPTGS), can help you to present your research nationally and internationally

What is funded?

You can request funding to attend up to one international conference or several national conferences during your candidature. Apart from conference travel, the funding guidelines (pdf 31 kb)specify other research costs that can be claimed.

How much can I request?

  • Up to $1,175 per candidature is available through the MPTGS.
  • Up to $2,000 per candidature is available through the Law HDR Research Support Fund.

Funding is discretionary – eligible candidates don’t always have a right or entitlement to the maximum amount. The final amount that is approved will depend on how the proposed travel will contribute to your research.

How do I apply for funds to travel overseas?

Complete the Monash Postgraduate Travel Grant application form if you’re applying for international travel funds. This form will also cover any Faculty contributions to your travel.

How do I apply for funds to travel within Australia?

Complete the HDR Support Fund application form (RTF, 5mb) if you’re applying for Australian travel funds or for other requests described in the funding guidelines.
