Dr Richard Brown

Richard Brown is a patent attorney and senior associate at Davies Collison Cave, Australia’s largest specialist intellectual property law firm. Richard specialises in patent matters related to Information and Communication Technology, microelectronics, microsystems/nanotechnology, and physics. His practice includes drafting patent specifications, local and international prosecution, and providing validity and infringement advice. Previously, Richard was a Research Professor at the Microelectronics Research Center at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, a Resident Consultant at Bell Laboratories (Lucent Technologies), a Visiting Fellow at the Australian National University, and a Research Associate in the Materials Science & Engineering Department at North Carolina State University, and also in the School of Chemistry at La Trobe University. He has over 40 technical publications. He holds a PhD and BSc(Hons) degrees in physics, and a Masters Degree in Intellectual Property Law, all from the University of Melbourne, and a Diploma of Intellectual Property Practice from the Institute of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys of Australia (IPTA). Richard is a registered patent attorney, a registered trade mark attorney, and a Fellow of the Institute of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys of Australia.
