Dr Matt Collins
Victorian Bar
Matt Collins is a member of the Victorian Bar, practising in all areas of media law. He practises throughout Australia and has acted for most of Australia’s major media outlets as well as many high profile public figures. Matt has a PhD from the University of Melbourne, and is the author of The Law of Defamation and the Internet (Oxford University Press), which is the standard international text on how English, American and Australian defamation laws apply to material published via the Internet. The second edition was published in November 2005. Matt is currently the Victorian Chair of the Law Council’s Media and Communications Committee. He has published widely both in Australia and overseas on various aspects of the law of defamation.
