The Hon John D Phillips QC
Former Judge, Court of Appeal, Supreme Court
The Hon John D Phillips QC practised as a barrister from 1961 to 1990 in areas of commercial law, becoming a Queen’s Counsel in 1977. Prior to commencing his career at the Victorian Bar, he was the Associate to the Hon Mr Justice Menzies in the High Court of Australia. He was appointed a Judge of the Supreme Court of Victoria in 1990 and a Judge of Appeal in 1995 upon the creation of the Court
of Appeal within the Supreme Court. In 2004 he retired from full time duty as a Judge of Appeal and resigned as a judge in 2005.
