PDLP your pathway to an LLM from Monash

The PDLP is not only a pathway to admission to practice, it can also provide a direct pathway to an Master of Laws (Advanced Legal Practice)  from Monash University. Students who achieve the required marks across the relevant PDLP units are eligible to receive credit towards this innovative degree.

Monash Law School is the only provider of practical legal training in Victoria to offer this unique opportunity, allowing students who receive the required marks across the relevant PDLP units to gain towards an LLM (Advanced Legal Practice).

Eligibility and credits

PDLP graduates must obtain grades of a certain standard to gain credit towards the LLM (Advanced Legal Practice). These are as follows:

  • A graduate who obtains a result of 70% or more in each of the major units, Civil Litigation Practice, Commercial and Corporate Practiceand Property Law Practice, plus 70% or more in each of the elective units is entitled to credit of 50% or 24 points (four units) of the LLM (Advanced Legal Practice).
  • A graduate who obtains an average of 65-69% in the three major units (Civil Litigation Practice, Commercial and Corporate Practice and Property Law Practice) and in each of the electives is entitled to credit of 25% or 12 points (two units) of the LLM (Advanced Legal Practice)
  • A graduate who obtains a result of 70% or more in two of the three major units above only is entitled to credit of 25% 12 points (two units) of the LLM (Advanced Legal Practice).

Note: This articulation pathway is open to students who commence(d) the PDLP from July 2005 onwards. Students who have completed the PDLP before July 2005 should contact the Postgraduate Studies Officer for advice on credit to be granted.
