Perform well – Worry less

Managing Law School Stress

Here you are at the Faculty of Law. This will be an exciting journey over next few years. Any University degree brings with it many demands which will challenge and at times be stressful. Studying in the Faculty of Law is no exception and has many of its own potential stressors. Some of these include:

  • Transition into different learning and very critical & analytic thinking
  • Adjusting to self-directed learning with little feedback as you go
  • Developing new social groups to feel connected
  • Focus on exam based assessment
  • Demands regarding volume of reading and new study methods

Additionally, sometimes personal life events or circumstances can be stressful such as relationships, family, friends, work, accommodation, finances and many others. Managing these can be challenging particularly in conjunction with the demands of study. If you’re beginning to feel overwhelmed or things are impacting on study, the Law Counsellor can provide some support.

Appointments with the counsellor can be made through Law Student Services in person or by calling 990 53356.

NOTE that counselling is also available through Health, Wellbeing and Development
