Domestic applications

The Master of Laws (Juris Doctor) applications are now open for the January 2009 intake.

Application steps

  1. Submit your online application.
  2. Follow up by providing your supporting documentation.

Applications status

Upon completion of the online application, you will receive a confirmation email with an application number. Please quote this application number in any correspondence with us during the admissions process.

Supporting documentation

You must submit a current detailed resume and original or original certified copies of your academic transcripts.

You may submit any further documentation that you believe will enhance your application.  If your documentation is in a language other than English, an official certified translation must be provided.  You are not required to submit academic transcripts for courses you have undertaken at Monash University, but should instead provide your Monash student number.

You must submit your online application before this date.

Online applications received after the closing date will be considered for the following intake.

All supporting documentation must be provided within 7 days of the closing date, otherwise your application will not be processed further.

Interviews held

Late October and early November

Throughout June 2009

Applicants called for interview will be notified of the outcome of their interview, once all interviews have been conducted. Interviews are held in person at the Monash Law Chambers.

Offers made

End of November and Early December 2008

July 2009 Once all interviews have been conducted, official notification of the outcome will be mailed.

21 August 2009 Students who accept their offer will be invited to an Orientation breakfast, one or two weeks before the course commences.
Course begins 30 January 2009

The first two units (LAW7212 and LAW7079) will be held at the Clayton Campus.

Credit transfer

If you have completed postgraduate law studies with another instituation, you may apply for credit transfer.  The maximum amount of credit that can be awarded towards the Monash JD is 8 units.  These may consist of 8 core units (the named units in the Course Structure ) or 7 core units and one elective unit.

When applying for credit transfer, an original or certified copy of your academic results and unit syllabus (units synopsis, assessment, number of hours, textbooks used) for the year the unit was studied is required for all studies not completed at Monash University.

You must submit the Credit Application Form with your supporting documentation.
