Law overseas study programs - Prato and Malaysia

In a globalised world, lawyers are increasingly expected to be able to solve transnational legal problems and to utilise opportunities beyond their home jurisdictions. Monash law graduates will be asked to function in a modern and increasingly integrated legal world which is structurally different from the professional environment of their predecessors.

The objective of the programs is to tackle these challenges by internationalising the law curriculum. The programs offer students the chance to acquire and develop skills and perspectives that they will need as lawyers operating in a modern legal environment.  By providing a multicultural and transnational setting for teaching and learning, the programs give students the unique opportunity to learn about different legal traditions, systems and procedures, allowing them to gain skills and perspectives that will characterise their future years of learning and developing in the legal profession.

Monash Law School conducts a full semester of law studies in each program. Students may choose to undertake the law overseas study program in semester 1 (Prato) only , or in semester 2 (Malaysia) only, or undertake both programs in semester 1 and 2 consecutively or in two different academic years.  All units are taught intensively in English by academics from Monash University and other partner institutions.
