Monash Law eligibility criteria
In order to obtain funding through the Student Travel Fund you must meet the following general criteria:
- be enrolled full time in the Bachelor of Laws, any Bachelor of Laws double degree, LLM(LP) or JD program at Monash University and have at least one unit of your law degree to complete through Monash Law School following the conclusion of the internship program
- at the time of the internship have completed at least one full time equivalent year of law and have achieved a minimum credit (60%) average across your law studies
- have the ability to complete the internship without compromising law studies or examination periods
- be available on return to commit to marketing and promotional activities, including future use of profiles and reports in marketing material (subject to negotiation with the Faculty Marketing Manager)
- Have not previously received faculty funding through the STF for more than one other faculty managed internship (students are eligible for STF funding for a maximum of two faculty managed internships for the duration of their law studies at Monash. Students can apply for additional internships but they will not be eligible to receive funding through the STF.)
Allen and Gledhill eligibility criteria
- Applicants must be in the penultimate year of their Monash Law degree (applicants will be accepted from both single and double degree students)
- Applicants are required to have completed the following subjects with a minimum credit (60%) average
- Contract Law A & B
- Property Law A & B
- Corporations Law (desirable but not essential)
- Two commercial law and/or international law electives (desirable but not essential)
- Previous work experience is desirable but not essential.
- Interest in practising Law in Singapore desirable but not essential.
Application process
2007 applications must be submitted by Friday 14 September.
- Complete the Allen and Gledhill Application Form [PDF] and submit a hard copy to the External Programs Officer located in the Student Services office on Level 1 of the Law building.
- In order to submit your application form you will require the following:
- Curriculum Vitae
- Statement of results (download from WES) which must show at least a 60% average across all law studies
- A personal statement of no more than one page typed (minimum size ariel font x10 point) showing a proven interest in the work and mission of Allen and Gledhill Singapore.
- Short listed applicants will be sent to Allen and Gledhill by the 30 September each year
- The chosen intern will be confirmed by Allen and Gledhill by the end of the second week of October
- The successful applicant will be contacted directly via phone and/or email by the International Programs Officer
- All unsuccessful applicants will be notified via phone and/or email by the International Programs Officer
- The successful candidate will be provided with the contact details of the appropriate person at Allen and Gledhill and they will be required to liaise directly with the organisation in order to determine start and finish dates which must equate to a minimum of four weeks during November and February. The International Programs Officer must be notified of final dates and arrangements.
- International Programs Officer will notify the Faculty Finance Manager of the successful intern
- Once the successful intern has been notified they must contact the International Programs Officer to discuss travel arrangements and release of funds.
Note: All grants should be used in the first instance to cover travel costs, followed by insurance and accommodation costs if funds permit.
Equity grants
Student Travel Fund (STF) Equity Grants have been developed to provide financial assistance for faculty internship programs to those students who can demonstrate financial hardship.
