Eligibility requirements
Below are the eligibility requirements for the international study program.
Monash Undergraduate Law degree students must have:
- an active enrolment in a Monash undergraduate Law degree
- an average of at least 55% across all Law units
- completed 48 credit points of Law units by the end of the year prior to their study in the program.
- The 48 credit points can be completed at Monash or have been given as specified credit from another institution.
- At the time of application students may be undertaking units in Semester 2 which will count towards the 48 credit points.
- cannot defer to a later year their participation in the program
- The Associate Dean (Undergraduate) may in particular cases allow a student to enrol who has not completed 48 credit points of law units at the time of enrolment, but who
- In this case, students must submit a supporting statement in writing of the grounds on which enrolment is sought with their application form.
Monash JD (Juris Doctor) Law degree students must have:
- an active enrolment in a Monash JD Law degree
- an average of at least 55% across all Law units
- completed 72 credit points (12 units) prior to their study in the program
- the 72 credit points can be completed at Monash or have been given as specified credit from another institution
- At the time of application students may be undertaking units in Trimester 3 and enrolled in units in Trimester 1 which will count towards the 72 credit points.
- a provisional place will be offered to students who have completed 60 credit points by the end of the year prior to their study in the program and are enrolled in a further 12 credit points in the trimester prior to their study in the program.
Monash LLM (Masters) and GD (Graduate Diploma) Law degree students must have:
- an active enrolment in a Monash LLM or GD Law degree
- an average of at least 55% across all Law units
Monash Postgraduate Law degree students are advised that they should consider carefully their enrolment in units where final assessments are due after their departure for Prato, as any impact of their participation in the Prato program would not normally be approved as grounds for Special Consideration.
Partner University students:
- need to contact the administrative officer from their home university.
Students who are not eligible:
- Monash students may not undertake other Semester 1 based units simultaneously with Prato units.
- Cross-institutional students are not eligible for the Prato or Malaysia programs.
