There are various avenues where law students can purchase legal texts and materials.
To purchase legal texts and materials on campus, students can go to Legibook, a bookstore operated by the Monash Law Book Co-operative, an organisation quite independent of the Faculty of Law or Monash University.
Located at the Faculty of Law basement in room G21, Legibook is established under the Co-operatives Act and exists purely for the benefit of its members. Legal texts are sold at a discount to its members, with discounts currently being up to 18% off the publisher's recommended retail price.
Membership of Legibook is available to all at cost of $10. This membership cost comprises a share of $3.00 and a joining fee of $7 which covers costs of administration and maintenance of member records. Membership remains active until such time as the member has not used it for three years.
To be a member, please complete and submit the members application form (doc, 30kb) via e-mail, fax or personally at the Legibook office located at Room G21 at the Faculty of Law basement.
To beat the queue, download the book order form (doc, 100kb) and send it to Legibook to have your books ready for collection on your nominated date.
Postgraduate law students studying in the Monash University Law Chambers are able to order books by phone, fax or email and pay by credit card. These books can be delivered to the Law Chambers free of charge. They can also be posted to their home of business at an additional cost for postage and handling.
Orders for books to be sent to the Law Chambers, which are received before 1pm, are usually delivered to the Law Chambers on the morning of the next business day.
