6 December 2010: Evidence Based Regulatory Reform:beyond 2010
This forum aimed to expand current thinking around both ‘regulatory reform’ and the ‘evidence’ used in reforms. It looked beyond the regulatory reform task as simply one of reducing administrative burdens, towards aiming as a community to improve regulatory effectiveness and using regulatory discretion wisely.
This forum also aimed to provide some reflections on the meaning of ‘evidence-based’ reform and highlight the view that evidence is inherently rich and multifaceted, and as much based on political beliefs and social judgements as on technical and scientific matters.
