What's Ahead?

Consultations

The appointment of Bligh Voller Nield Architecture (BVN) in November 2007 to complete stage one feasibility and concept design development opened up a new stage in the discussion and consultation process.  Initial consultation between architects, staff and students took place in mid-December 2007 and continued in February – March 2008. These consultations provided an opportunity for staff and students to view, discuss and provide input to the concept plans as they were developed.

At a special faculty meeting held on 20 March 2008 82 faculty staff expressed their view in relation to the desirability of the move to Caulfield.  54% of faculty members indicated that the move to Caulfield was desirable, 7% were undecided and 39% indicated that the move undesirable.

A further round of detailed consultations is currently underway. Staff and students have been invited to participate in reference groups to consider the faculty's needs and preferences in planning teaching spaces and student amenities in the new building.  The following groups have been convened to meet with the architects:

  • Teaching Spaces Reference Group
  • Academic Staff Work Styles Reference Group
  • General Staff Work Styles Reference Group
  • Student Amenities Reference Group
