2008 Charter of Rights Mooting CompetitionThe Castan Centre is hosting the 2nd annual Human Rights mooting competition which is open to law students at all Victorian universities. The competition will address issues associated with the new Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Act 2006 (Vic), (the ‘Charter’) and will give students the opportunity to hone their skills in this important new area of law. The event is proudly sponsored by Clayton Utz. The Castan Centre considers it vital – as part of its mandate to promote human rights - to initiate a skills based competition focussing exclusively on human rights. In the coming years, the Charter will become an integral part of all Victorian lawyers’ practices, and it is essential that students are given opportunities to develop their skills in this area. The centre is grateful for the strong support from each of Victoria’s five law schools in the organisation and implementation of this competition. Prize Money Winning team: $3000 When will the Competition be Held?

Each team should have three competitors – Senior Counsel, Junior Counsel and instructing solicitor.
