Australian Society of Legal Philosophy

Annual Conference 2009

The Society's Annual Conference was held at the Law School, University of Melbourne, on Friday June 5 and Saturday June 6,  2009.  Conference highlights this year included:

A plenary paper by Professor Chin Liew Ten from the Department of Philosophy, University of Singapore.  Professor Ten is internationally renowned for his work on crime and punishment, liberalism and toleration, and the political philosophy of John Stuart Mill. 

A "public conversation" between retired High Court Justice Michael Kirby and Professor James Allan of the University of Queensland.

A book symposium dedicated to Professor Ngaire Naffine's recently published Law's Meaning of Life: Philosophy, Religion, Darwin and the Legal Profession  (Hart Publishing, Legal Theory Today Series).
